We Joined A New League

The Central Marin Chargers have joined the North Bay Youth Football & Cheer League (NBYFC). This is an excellent change, which we have been pursuing for many years and we hope to be part of the North Bay League for many years to come. We should match up well against the other participating programs, which are located in close proximity to Marin.

Depending on field use permits, games are on either Saturday or Sunday each weekend, August - November.

We purchased brand new advanced-technology helmets for the entire program in 2011. Each player is issued a helmet to use for the season. Please see our "Player Gear" Section (to the right) for information about the gear we provide.

This will be the first opportunity to sign up for your volunteer positions for game days.

Terra Linda High School - Grass fields in the back. We will issue helmets on the first day.

Our excellent Cheer Director, Aleshia Adams-Page, has graciously agreed to return again this season as Cheer Director, even though her daughter has moved on to high school. She has had many years of success with the Chargers Cheer Program as Director and Coach and she holds a number of National Championships to her credit.

If you are interested in learning how to run the Charger Cheer Program with an eye toward taking over as Cheer Director in future seasons, please contact Tom McCallister directly at the following email address: thomas.mccallister@comcast.net. This would be an excellent, no-stress way to learn the ropes. You would basically shadow Aleshia throughout the season and watch her work her magic. You do not have to coach cheerleading to take on this position. Learn from the best. Sign on now!

Our long-time Head Cheer Coach, Alba Alvarado, will also return this season to lead the Chargers Cheer teams. She will be assisted by former Charger Cheerleader, and current San Rafael Varsity Cheerleader, Piper Shaw, who will join the coaching staff for the first time this season. Welcome back, Coach Alba, and a big Charger welcome to Coach Piper.

Youth sports organizations like the Chargers don't just magically happen. Please consider putting your name in for consideration to be part of the Central Marin Chargers Board. Under "Sponsors" above, see the drop-down menu item "Serve on the Chargers Board" for a description of positions, duties, and expected time commitments.

Please consider donating your time and energy to making sure that this worthy cause continues to succeed in future years long after the current board members have retired. There are many positions that involve discreet, manageable tasks and you may also volunteer to be an Assistant Board Member with an eye toward taking over that board position next year.
